The first tiger stripe camo uniforms were created in the 1950s for the Vietnamese military. Derived from French leopard and lizard camo patterns dating to World War II, the Vietnamese version was better able to distort a soldier's body shape.
Desert Tiger came on board shortly before DESERT SHIELD/STORM. The Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune bought an entire 2500 set run of these uniforms. With this battlefield experience, reports back from USMC Force Recon, and other Spec Ops, were all highly favorable. Desert Tigers continue to be a favorite of Special Operation operators, Army Rangers, Army Special Forces, and Security Forces throughout the world to this day.
